Funding Opportunities
C-THAN
The Centre for Innovation in Point-of-Care Technologies for HIV/AIDS and Emerging Infectious Diseases (C-THAN), based at Northwestern University, is part of the renowned Point-of-Care Technology Research Network (POCTRN). Wits DIH is one of nine African partner sites in this extensive network. Together, we work to accelerate the development of innovative point-of-care technologies (POCT) that address key healthcare challenges in South Africa and across the continent.
Our Goals
- To support and promote the development of POCT technologies that meet the healthcare needs of South Africa, especially in the areas of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases.
- To create a platform for collaboration between local innovators, industrial partners, healthcare providers, and academic researchers.
- To enhance awareness and engagement with POCTRN by working closely with faculty heads, divisional leads, research units, postgraduate students, and clinical partners.
C-THAN offers a unique opportunity for innovators, researchers, and healthcare professionals to access funding for the development and deployment of POCT solutions. Calls for funding are annually opened to support groundbreaking technologies aimed at HIV and emerging infectious diseases, focusing on projects with the potential to impact healthcare delivery in low-resource settings. This initiative aims to address local healthcare challenges, making a tangible difference in underserved communities. Wits DIH supports local developers by sharing these funding opportunities, raising awareness, and offering guidance throughout the application process. This ensures innovators have the tools to successfully secure funding and address pressing healthcare challenges in South Africa. Keep an eye out for the next call for funding opportunities.
